Parametric Frame

Last updated: October 30, 2023

Parametric frames are constructed using tools such as the Parametric Frame Builder. They are 3D compound cells, quite often doors and windows, that are generally very complex and detailed. They are placed dynamically and can be modified after placement by changing their parametric constraints.

Parametric frames are inserted into forms which can be sized, relocated, or deleted from the form after placement. During placement, perforators cut openings for the frames. When a frame is modified or replaced, the opening in the form is modified simultaneously. This is one of the advantages for using parametric frames over cells – the ability to edit a frame and its opening in the form concurrently after placement. Parametric frames are not static, they can be updated without having to be dropped.

Powerful parametric frame creation utilities available with Building applications include the Parametric Frame Builder and the Truss Builder tools, located in the Utilities toolbox.
